The secret diary of a tall girl

I’ve got something hanging over my head

Long time, no posting. I NEED to get better at this! And it’s not like my life is all that busy right now.

First off, I got a job! :-D I’m a 20-hour graduate assistant for the summer. I’m an administrative grad assistant for 2 undergrad marketing classes as well as assisting in research done by the department. I get an office and I have to see kids who what to see their old tests and grade papers. Right now it’s only for the summer but it could possibly continue into the fall if I like the job, do a good job, and the profs like me. I’m just excited and happy. :D

I move into my apartment May 31 and start summer school June 1. Kind of cutting it close but I think it’ll all work out well. My parents are in Alaska right now for a cruise with some friends and I’m home alone. I’m really jealous but being stuck at home is giving me time to clean out my closet and get stuff organized before I move. My closet is so junky and needs a good clean out. Plus it’s nice to be alone for a while. It’s a nice chance to relax and chill out without anyone around. Been reading and watching movies I’ve recorded on our TiVo. See, plenty to do. Not bored at all. lol.

I’m working on getting the custom fields to cooperate with me so I can post my current mood/music on each post but I’m having some complications. If anyone has any good sites or tutorials or plugins that help, please let me know! I’m searching for some but I’m not having much luck. :(

New home and happy

If anyone noticed the site down this morning, which I’m not sure if anyone did…, I changed hosts. I moved to Fan-Sites.org. I have BilliePiperFan.com hosted there and decided to give this domain and Broken-Promises.net a chance at hosting – since Gertie is willing to host current hostees’ personal sites there as well. With that said – I’m THRILLED! :D FS.org is a wonderful place to have your site and the service/environment is incredible. :D Plus, it’s free – which is a MAJOR perk.

Also, I’m looking for more blogs/sites to add to my blogroll & link area. If you would like to exchange links, please let me know!

This brings out the fangirl in me…

I think this deserves its own post. :D I got my Southern Gothic Productions shirt! If you don’t know, SoGoPro is a new production company that is run by Hilarie Burton (Peyton on OTH) and a few other wonderful people. They have a blog and are trying to raise money for their company by selling shirts. I ordered on Monday and patiently waited for its arrival.

It was delivered on Saturday but I didn’t get to open it until last night, since I was gone. It came in a generic envelope with a little thank you note. The main note is more than likely copied from an original and goes with all the shirt packages. But I’m not sure about Hilarie’s signature. I want to believe it’s authentic because it’s in a different ink color and all that. IDK. I just think it’s soo cool.

The shirt was tied up in a maroon-ish colored ribbon. I think they read my mind because I LOVE that color. Anyway, I’d almost feel bad if I untie the ribbon and unfold the shirt. I don’t think I am since the shirt is PROBABLY too small and I’m not sure I’d really wear a signed shirt. I’m going to frame it or something.I’ll probably frame the note too or display it with the shirt or something. Guh. It’s awesome. I would LOVE to order another one but I’m a little strapped for cash right now. I’m hoping cheaper unsigned versions go on sale soon.

My camera sucks but I took pictures…

All together, I LOVE IT! :D I’m such a fangirl when it comes to getting things like this.

Lots of new stuff

This weekend, my parents and I went to Austin and Dallas. It was good and fun and all that but I’m SO glad I’m home and able to sleep in my own bed. See, Saturday and Sunday night my parents let my niece and nephews stay with us in our hotel room. The boys slept on their inflatable beds on the floor and Kierani, my 6 year-old niece, slept in the bed with me. I didn’t think it was bad so I didn’t argue that. Except IT WAS. OMG. That girl is all knees and elbows and she likes to hog the bed. She flips and, at one point Sunday morning, she had flipped around and had her feet in my face. I woke up a lot and was like ‘WTF are there feet in my face?!’. lmao. She’s worse than me. then Monday morning she was horizontal in the bed and I had to move her. I thought she’d wake up but the girl sleeps LIKE A ROCK. And hogs the bed. Every time I tried to move or roll over I got a bunch of knees and elbows in my back. I tried moving her but she’d kept going back where she was.

On Sunday, we went on a train ride from Cedar Park to Burnet, TX. One small town to another. It was Sunday so when we got there, all the shops were closed. The town seemed kind of old and abandoned and there was nothing to do for the two hours we were there except have lunch, which took FOREVER since there was only like 2 places open…, and watch an incredibly corny wild west gun fight. The kids liked it. The train ride itself was cool, I guess.

Then yesterday my parents and I went to Dallas/Ft. Worth to buy me some business attire that’s long enough to fit me. We found some and ended up spending so much time and money in the process. I feel bad because I hate making my mom spend so much money on me after she’s already done so much. But the clothes are nice and I finally have a suit set that fits me, which is awesome. I look sharp. Then we stayed at a hotel in the Stockyards in Ft. Worth. It’s like an area of old-west style shopping and eating. IDK if you guys are familiar with the Kemah Boardwalk near Houston/Galveston. It’s like that but Old West themed instead.

Oh! I registered for my classes for next fall. Took a lot of effort and hassle but it happened. I woke up at 6 on Monday and was presented with a ‘You can’t register. You don’t have a time ticket.’. That kind of annoyed me. lmao. A&M is switching student information management systems and it’s been giving me such grief since. Anyway I called the help desk and got that settled. I registered then realized I couldn’t register for 2 required MKTG classes. Ugh. Had to call again. Was told the classes were only open to blah blah blah and no one else. Except she didn’t list Marketing grads. Which made NO SENSE whatsoever since THESE CLASSES ARE REQUIRED! She’s like ‘Oh. Please hold’. By now, it was about 8:15 and I was in the hotel lobby getting odd looks from the concierge people. She fixed it 30 minutes after I got on the phone with her. Thank goodness. What a hassle. *shakes head*

Things are starting to fall into place

I signed up for my first graduate classes to take over the summer a few weeks ago. One of them is a pre-req class I need to take and the other is a business elective course I’m taking in the summer to ease up my course load for the spring semester. I don’t think it’ll be too bad. Only one course per summer session and an hour and 35 minutes of class a day.

Last weekend my parents and I went up to College Station to look for apartments. We ended up liking 2 of the complexes we looked at. My mom and I went back up on Wednesday to check out a ‘lived in’ apartment at one of the complexes – the one that was cheaper and closer to campus – and we liked it enough to sign a lease on it. It’s a 2/2 with plenty of space for my massive quantity of junk. I move in on May 31 – the day before session 1 starts (Eek!). I’m pretty excited. All I need now is an internship or a job to earn some money, keep me busy, and *possibly* some experience. There aren’t many Marketing-related jobs/companies around the town – being that it IS a small, college town – so I may have to work at something unrelated to my degree until an Assistantship position comes up.

In other news, the medication I’ve been taking is helping a little. As of last Friday I’ve lost around 4.5 pounds. But still no visit from Auntie Flo. It’s only been a month taking the medication and I’ve read on several web sites that it takes from 1 to over 6 months to ‘work’. I guess I’m just glad I’m losing a little bit of weight. But my problem now is that I lose it then go out to eat and gain it all back! lol. I go out and eat like it’s my last meal. It’s sad. I also need to keep myself out of our office candy jar. But that’s another story completely…

I have been working out 3 times a week but it’s been hard over the past few weeks. My dad goes with me to the gym and he’s a CPA. This time of year is rough and I’m letting him work late in lieu of working out some nights we’re scheduled to hit the gym. But hopefully after next Wednesday our schedule will get back on track.

I should update this more…

Not much has happened since I posted last. But I really should post more here. I keep being too lazy to post here. I need to make a habit of writing here every few days. I’m severely neglecting this and my paper journal I bought in November and only have about 5 pages filled. Slacker.

The interview at Trinity went OK but I didn’t get in. I’m kind of bummed but it wasn’t meant to be. However, I did get into U of Houston’s MBA program and Texas A&M’s Marketing program. I’ve decided on Texas A&M. I really love it there and it would be great to spend a little more time up there for my graduate school. I have to take a statistics class during the summer session before I can start in the fall. I guess that’s OK because it won’t be too hard. Now I just have to look at apartments and try to find a job or an internship up there this summer. I’d really love to be a TA but those jobs for incoming grad students in my department won’t completely be available until the spring.

I went to the doctor a few weeks ago because I’ve been having all of these health issues – mainly not having my periods…at all. It’s been going on for years but I was on birth control and that solved the problem. I went off that in July because I had other problems. I’ve also been trying to lose weight (working out 3x a week and eating about 1200 calories a day) and not losing an ounce. Anyway, I got some blood work done and it turns out I have PCOS. It explains my issues I’ve been having. I’m on medication right now – a lower dosage for a few weeks to see if I have any problems, then the full amount after – and I hope it solves my problems.
